Did you know that the Hooded Pitohui was venomous?
A songbird from New Guinea. Its skin as well as feathers contain a
very powerful poison called: homobatrachotoxin. This is the same poison
found in the South American dart frogs, although it is severely less
toxic then the frogs and a whole bird would have to be eaten for any
real harm to occur. The poison is transferred easily to humans by
merely touching or handling the bird. and davirdude the blue whale is the biggest animal but not the biggest fish like in some previous posts said that the whales are mammals not fish.

Did you know that the dodo was an extinct bird that couldn't fly and did you know that the adjective phrase "as dead as a dodo" means undoubtedly and unquestionably dead. The verb phrase "to go the way of the dodo" means to become extinct or obsolete, to fall out of common usage or practice, or to become a thing of the past

The dodo, a flightless bird native to the Mascarene Islands in the Central Indian Ocean, became extinct around 1800. Pigs and monkeys, which destroyed dodo eggs, probably bore the greatest responsibility for the dodo's extinction. Humans contributed to the problem by slaughtering thousands of dodos for meat. Dodos became extinct on the island of Mauritius soon after 1680 and on the island of Reunion around 1750. They remained on the island of Rodriguez until 1800.
