recently my computer stopped working properly (see my other topic) and since i havent been able to fix it (yet) im considering buying a new one soon :P

ofcourse, im going to continue trying to fix it, but if is completely broken or something, i must get myself a new one :)

I usually use my computer for many hours of internett and games every day, (who doesent theese days...?) so i want a computer that can run modern 3D games verry well.

Here are a list of some of the games i want to use on the new computer:

-Crysis -GTA 4 -Red Faction Guerilla -World of warcraft -Half life, ect.

pretty much the biggest, most complex games out there.

im also getting adobe photoshop and flash for that computer i guess.

so what kind of Graphic card should i get for my computer?

there is a site where you can choose which parts you want for the computer, which is pretty cool :)

Parts i dont need to upgrade:

-My Computer mice: already got  a Logitech MX518 Optical Mouse.
-my computer screen and keyboard works fine, but if there are any cheap, good, new and cool versions of them, i might buy better versions.

My Old computer is a Windows XP, 2005 model, but it feels a bit old, and takes like ages to start because i have downloaded loads of programs in its early years...

So, the price is ofcourse important, and i dont want to go way over 5000-6000kr (about 1000 american dollars) because I probably have to pay everything myself...

so a cheap, good gaming pc with extras is what im after ; )

so if anyone would take their time to help me, (or just direct me to a site that can) it would be awesome!

For gaming, definitely go with a PC. It will offer better performance, and you will have Windows 7.

Basically, find computers that are in your range, and compare their stats to each other and to the stats of your old computer. Look at what type of a graphics card is in the computer, and take note of the manufacturer. If you see a really good one, look into what other computers that company makes that are similar to the one you like.

Thats really all I can do. I know its not much, but good luck on your hunt!

Hey Dravirdude,

A card which gives the most bang for buck at this time is this one

Dont know who does good pre built computers, but see if you can find any with that card in.

I would recommend eMachines for PC. Really reliable and comes with good software.

Get a Studio XPS from dell. Take it from me it's great as a gaming computer  and it starts at around $750. I customized mine and it came out to $1000. I got it shipped and all my games work great. I have a 1 TB hard drive, 1.2 GB Nvidia Graphics card, 8 GB ram, dual core.... Etc. You see, great for the money. It was actually cheaper and better than the Gaming laptops on dell!

The best way to get a good but cheaper gaming computer is to customize the parts or, even better, build it yourself. It's quite fun building it yourself, too. I don't do much gaming so I can't recommend any parts.

^^
Dells are amazing. My computer is a Dell and its 7 years old and still works very well. Its an old Dimension, but the graphics card is a Nvidia. I'll probably go to an ATi on my next one, which is most likely in two/three years.

I'm saving up to buy a new PC too :D
Gonna custom-build mine though - something that's really useful is the hardware section of PC Gamer UK - shows all the best parts for an affordable(ish) price.
Perhaps there's a similar magazine in Norway that has this feature? It definitely helps.

That's debatable (correct spelling?), though I do like HP :)
