Pop and Fresh

Check out the new design on the home and games pages. We realised we needed to get with the times and blow-up those tiny little sugar cube images into whopping great wide versions.

In the process we thought, how can we show more games in one place? Well, we threw in the popular sort, it sorts games by how many people have fav'd them.
It seems that by far the most extremely loved and adored game is Attak, if you haven't played Attak yet then grab a buddy, sit them down and proceed to smash them through a series of office blocks with Sibor, Blane or one of the other nutball fighters.

By default you get to see what's fresh right now, the order in which we make 'em, newest right at the top working down to a little gem called Thermostorm. If you haven't played some of our older games, you should check them out — it's where we came from man!
Of course, High Speed Chase 2 is our latest creation, it's like a mix of High Speed Chase, The Heist and a whole bunch of ideas we had floating around in our brains.
We hope you love smashing cars off the road as much as we do, go play High Speed Chase 2 now d00ds.
Also, a quick nod to supergrover who captured the wonderful new Comatose icon, high fives all round.
Inside the mind of Philippe Starck

Philippe Starck is a hero to me, I saw this video that Engadget made a while ago on their blog and I've been meaning to post it because what Starck says is very to the point and is a great example of a creative mind making a difference in the world.

WIP Space Illustration
I thought maybe it was a little much showing this illustration so early in its development, but then I thought, why not. It's been so long since we've actually been able to share things with you we should make it up some how.
So, this is part one of some kind of space illustration I'm working on. Right now there's no ship and that car was just plain lame-sauce so I decided to draw over it.

Captain Piccard Takes Flight
Well, not exactly. Solar impulse is a project engineered by Captain Piccard and his team, a project that on paper sounds impossible: Perpetual flight.
But that's exactly what Piccard aims to achieve with his ground breaking, ultra light-weight Solar Impulse (pictured) which recently managed to get off the ground using purely solar energy.

In it's current form, it's obeying test flight conditions, travelling 1,150 feet just 1 metre above ground level but this is certainly laudable, incredibly so since it's proves in these early stages that a grand idea such as perpetual flight is possible. As long as the sun keeps rising.
"What does the future hold?" is a question I always ask myself when reading about technological feats such as this and it's simple: fuel-less flying. Once the technology has been further developed, imagine flying without impacting the environment whatsoever. It's not impossible, it's certainly futuristic and it's already beginning to happen.
Hats off to Captain Piccard.
The NEW Johnny Two Shoes

We've just finished the transition to the new and improving Johnny Two Shoes look and feel. You can tell from the navigation that we've re-focused, our games take pride of place, then it's the players (you guys) and finally a place where we can all chat and share fun internet things, our custom forum.
For all unregistered players, there's a lot different. Registration is now a lot more comprehensive, it will guide you through what medals are and how to earn them along with introducing new registrations on the player page so existing players can get involved a lot quicker.
Once notes are introduced, the process of making friends and getting new players involved will be a lot easier and it's something we're really excited about.
We hope you enjoy the visual update, please, if you notice anything funky then get in contact with us in these comments, in the forum, via email or twitter and we'll happily straighten them out.
Honda EV-N Car Houses Unicycle

This car may not be to everyone's taste, but to me it's brilliant — I love the look of it. The roof is a solar panel and the rest of the car is white/cream to reflect sunlight to use less energy in things like air-con.
But the coolest draw for this little tyke? The uni-cycle we posted before sits right in the door frame. That's just awesome.

Honda Sanitize The Circus
Honda have whipped up this incredible but somehow creepy unicycle that's kind of in a similar market to the segway. But somehow I can imagine this catching on and in my mind I'm seeing London commuters silently flying past on these one-wheeled machines.

Earn Your Spy License

Today I've been playing around with some ideas for the spy license that is part of the High Speed Chase 2 tutorial. Essentially, when you unlock this baby you get a medal. And you can "drive recklessly outside the law". Maybe.
Pencil Photoshop Brushes

These are the brushes I used to draw the zombie in "Drawing Without Reference" episode 1. I found them through Google and credit goes to the original author of these simple yet awesome brushes Nagel.
To install, navigate to your Photoshop installation folder and drop these brushes in Presets/Brushes before you start Photoshop or close and re-open Photoshop once installed. They should show up as NagelSeries33
Drawing Without Reference: Zombie

Today I wanted to brush up on some Photoshop, I sat down and decided there and then to draw a zombie, record it and upload it. I did it without reference and thought it would be a an awesome idea for a series of illustration videos "Drawing Without Reference". This is episode 1!
After I finished my Zombie, I got caught up in drawing some text for it (check it out above) and then I got sidetracked editing the video in After Effects.
In all it's 8:30 of video, the drawing took me over an hour because I was trying out new stuff along the way and I haven't ever drawn anything like this in Photoshop before. I increased the video speed by 10 times so it's bearable to watch, I hope you like it!
